Hail History by Address

Every NOAA hail, wind and tornado report near a property for the dates you choose, with size and distance, ready to drop into the claim file.

What the report shows

Each row is one NOAA Storm Prediction Center local storm report: the date and time in UTC, hail size in inches or wind speed in mph, the distance from the property, and the observer's comment. An SPC “day” runs from 12:00 UTC to 12:00 UTC, so an evening storm can appear under the next calendar date.

Hail alley and beyond

Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska log more hail reports than anywhere else in the country. That puts Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio, Denver, Oklahoma City, Wichita and Omaha at the top of most adjusters' storm lists, with Minneapolis–St. Paul and Atlanta close behind. The lookup works for any US address.

For storms happening now, the live storm and disaster map shows today's reports and active warnings. Once the date is confirmed, build the scope with the roof squares calculator and the supplement builder.

Questions

How do I find out if it hailed at my address?
Enter the address and a date range of up to 31 days. The tool locates the address with the US Census geocoder and lists every hail, wind and tornado report NOAA's Storm Prediction Center logged within the radius, with size, distance and the observer's comment.
Is this the official storm record?
These are the preliminary local storm reports NWS offices file during and after an event. They are what most hail history services start from. For the final verified record, check NCEI Storm Events, which is published months later.
Why does the insurer say there was no storm?
Denials for 'no qualifying event' often rely on a single weather source or a point far from the house. A report list with distances and sizes on the date of loss answers that directly.
What radius should I use?
Hail swaths are narrow and reports come from wherever a spotter happened to be. Start at 10 miles; widen to 25 if nothing shows, and note the distance of each report in the file.
